The Family & Private Business Awards are an outstanding way to bring recognition for your successful business - and you don't have to be a big business to win!

Applying is simple. Just complete a few questions and you're on your way.  The online session will time out in two hours.

Applications are due by midnight June 30, 2018.

Principal Owner or CEO Information

- -

Family Owned: Business in which two or more family members are employed in the business, share ownership, or are primary decision makers; the business family has majority ownership; and are not publicly traded.

Privately Held: An individual or non-related individuals own more than 50% of the company.

2018 Criteria - Cincinnati Region Success Stories

These awards represent an opportunity for businesses to step forward with their own story of unique successes or contributions to our region. As the hallmark event for the Goering Center, we seek to recognize companies that represent the ideals of the Center and what it believes are qualities of great organizations.

Our focus is on demonstrable impact and outcomes. Following are suggested areas that reflect our purpose for these awards. Applicants are free to focus on one or more of these areas, with the total response not to exceed 1000 words.

1. A big business breakthrough that has set your business on a new trajectory. This might include:

  • Successful launch of a new product that has captured the market’s attention
  • A new direction for the business that has opened a new path of growth a unique or insightful use of market or customer feedback
  • An innovation that transforms your operations or addresses a new market need

2. An approach to leadership and employee development that shows your commitment to personal growth of your people:

  • New approaches to training, job experience
  • Use of teams to drive growth or solve problems
  • Succession planning and upward mobility

3. Shaping a culture for performance, inclusion and engagement:

  • Programs to foster teamwork, diversity, collaboration
  • Communications policies and practices that invite dialogue, build ownership of the mission
  • Unique approach to attracting and retaining new talent

4. Community development:

  • Program to lead or significantly contribute to efforts to enhance quality of life and social health of our area
  • Commitment to racial and social equity, including supporting efforts to bring economic opportunity to under-developed or under-served areas of our region

5. Job growth and investment:

  • Investments and ventures that have created new jobs or attracted other investment and activity to the region

Helpful hint 1:  Take some time to compose your answers in a Word document, then cut and paste them into the online application when you are satisfied with your answers. 



REQUIRED:  All Semi-Finalists will be featured in a special edition of the August 24, 2018 Business Courier. 

In 150 words or less provide a company overview that introduces your company to the Business Courier readers.  Consider this the “Meet & Greet” section of your application – let your passion and excitement show as you are introducing your company to someone that has never heard of it before.  Define the nature of your business, provide vital information highlighting your company’s history (such as founding date, years in business), share your company’s vision and mission, your business accomplishments and your company’s aspirations.  Describe the qualities that make your business so special. In reflection of this year's criteria, consider a brief statement referencing the community impact that your business delivered.


Your company logo will be featured throughout the program. Please upload a high-resolution version below.

If your company is named one of the 75 Semi-Finalists for a Goering Center Family and Private Award, question #4, "company profile", will appear as written in the August 24, 2018 edition of the Business Courier. Please do not include any personal information, confidential numbers or corporate secrets. Please review and proof your content as neither the Goering Center nor the Business Courier will be responsible for the release of information or errors in your copy.
